Well here we go again, there has been very heavy rain in Brisbane where I live which is the Capitol of Queensland, for the last couple of days, and flash flooding has started. Thank goodness it doesn't seem as bad as last years January floods. This of course is our wet season.

So far there have been evacuations in Burpengary just north of Brisbane, and also some evacuations in Narangba, again just north of Brisbane, and also on the Gold Coast south of Brisbane.

I've re-blogged this post from Magsx2's blog as we both live in the areas affected by the current rising flood waters.

  1. I’m glad you’re all safe – that sure looks like a lot of rain!!

I’ve got some really silly rain boots Mum keeps trying to get me to wear – you can have them!! Tee Hee – oooops – Mum said I can’t give them away as I’m going to wear them when we next have rain, we’ll see about that!! :)

    Stay dry and safe,

    Your pal Snoopy :)

    • Thanks for the offer of the gum boots Snoopy!
Looks like we wont be needing any gum boots though, because the rain has eased (in our area at least). We are all fine here.
      Thanks for popping over Snoopy!

    • Hi Tara! Our area hasn’t been unduly affected, thank goodness – lots of very heavy and continuous rain but thankfully, no flooding. No so other areas where some people have had to be evacuated again. They say by Tuesday this wet will be over, so I hope they’re right.
Thanks for your concern Tara, your thoughts are really appreciated my friend.

  2. Hi there Barb, I did not know you had a blog. I am so glad I found you. I don’t know if you remember us or not but I am the crazy lady with all the cats and the two donkeys. Sure is good to find your blog. Hope you didn’t flooded out. Please stay safe and dry too. Take care.

    • Hi Margie – of course I remember you! Long time no connect my dear friend! How did you find me? So glad you did!
Do you still have your donkeys and all your cats? I’m following your blog now, so I will find out. I couldn’t imagine you without any of them – you are as passionate about your pets as I am about mine!
No, we haven’t got flooded yet but many areas are, and people have been evacuated. It’s not as bad as last year’s floods, thank goodness.
So nice to meet up again Margie – keep in touch!

  3. Barb I am praying for the area and bless each one of you all! It can be a depressing time too..which doesn’t help. I know that when I don’t see the sunshine enough, I get very moody…I pray this passes quickly and know I am thinking of you.

    • Thanks for your prayers Jackie, gratefully received. We should be ok though, they say its not going to be as bad as last year and so far they are right. Our area (so far) has not had as much rain as other places where some have had to be evacuated.

    • Thanks Jodi.
We went through the same thing last year with floods but they were a lot worse than this year, which they say is not going to be as bad – but I still have a bag packed, just in case!

  4. I remember the pictures you posted last year, Barb. Hope that this year is such a deluge.

Too bad you can’t send some to the more arid regions of Australia.

    Stay safe.

  5. Fun times huh? We live right near Narangba. It was terrible here last year, food supplies dwindled with roads cut off and then we had to wind down our business, the floods just sent us under in more ways than one.
    Stay safe.

    • I remember Narangba and the floods last year. Are you affected this year with any flooding out there?
We live near Hervey Bay and were cut off for 3 days last year, food supplies couldn’t get in, etc.
They do say it wont be as bad this year, so here’s hoping. Stay safe Vix.

  6. The photos remind me of the Missouri River flooding that occured around here last year. My prayers are with you and everyone affected by the heavy rain and flooding near Brisbane. Take care and be safe.

    • We had to go into town this morning and were wondering if we’d be able to get through because it never stopped raining all last night; anyway, the roads were fine but we saw lots of flooding on the way. We got cut off last year for 3 days, hope it doesn’t happen again.
Hope you stay safe too Mags.
