Reblogged from Huebsch House Chronicles:
A few days ago I noticed a commotion in the creek out back which I've come to recognize as a manatee visit. I got Jim and we went out back to take a look. We could tell that it was several manatees. Normally they graze on the mangroves by the creek banks, but on this day it was different.
They were away from the bank, constantly rolling and breaking the surface of the water.
To have been able to witness a rare sight such as this, as Donna did, is truly amazing!

Cool image!

Thanks you, although the image is not mine – credit belongs to the person I re-blogged from!
Quite something
That is one exciting , rare event . beautiful images.
Thank you, glad you liked it so much, and the images were great.
thanks Bar for sharing this – too cool
No worries!
Very cool!
Glad you enjoyed it!
When my peoples went to Florida (and left me behind) they said tried to see the Manatees but all they saw was a glimpse of a back of one before it disappeared again. That’s what they get for leaving me home.
Serves ‘em right Toby – perhaps if they’d taken you with them, they might have seen more of the manatee than just it’s back!!
Magical and magnificent.
They are definitely both!
Wow, what an incredible sighting.
Incredible is the right word to describe them!
Lovely! We love bumping into Manatees around here . . . Snooty is a local celebrity at the South Florida Museum and Aquarium.
I’d love to see some photos Nancy – can you get close enough to them?
I’ve never gotten very good photos of them. But here’s a link to the Snooty Cam where you can watch Snooty swimming around:

He’s asleep right now.
Thanks for the link Nancy!
I’ll have a look at him when he’s finished sleeping!
What a wonderful discovery! I’d love to see one of these in person. Great photos.
You must go see them if you get the opportunity RD, they are such gentle giants, and a very interesting creature.
Cool… I don’t think I’ve seen one up close in real life…
If you get the opportunity to see them, take it Eliz, they are such gentle creatures, and so interesting.
Thank you and I hope I do.
Thanks so much for the reblog – I feel honored!
It was too good not to share Donna!
Wow.. how about that!
Amazing, huh?
Wow! That’s very awesome! Manatees fascinate me!
Me too Brenda, Manatees are huge, but so gentle. We have them here in Oz but we call them Dugongs ; I believe they are cousins.
Dugongs? Interesting name! I saw a couple manatees when I was in Mexico. Fell in love with them.
They are gentle giants.
Oh, my goodness!!! What a wonderful event to get to witness in person. Great pictures too. Thank you sweet Barb for stopping by with get well wishes. Chancy is still taking very good care of me and we are getting in lots of cuddle time. I am feeling better each day. Hugs and nose kisses from us!
If I had seen such a rare event, it would have given me goosebumps! It was too good not to share – it fits in well with my own blog too, being passionate about pets!
Glad you are feeling a little better – with the help of Chancy’s TLC of course!
