Reblogged from Dr Rayya's Online Veterinary Journal:
I was in the middle of surgery when my colleague walked out and said, get ready for an emergency caesarean. Layla,a 12 month old Great Dane, had been scheduled for a pregnancy ultrasound later that afternoon. Her owner had wanted to check how many puppies were present and to make sure the pregnancy was going well.
Overnight, Layla went into labour..

I’m glad all the puppies and their mom are fine. That was indeed amazing. Science does save lives when used right. Great job to the doctor. Adorable pictures. Happy Holidays.
Happy Holidays to you and your family!

Thank you for the award Jackie, much appreciated.
Great reblog. I have to admit I couldn’t watch the video, but I get the idea from the rest of the images.
I can understand you not watching the video – things like that don’t bother me, I find it fascinating to watch. Just glad the puppy made it. Rayya is a great vet.
What a beautiful post… Those puppies look so helpless… so adorable. TY!

Thank you!
I love Dr. Rayya’s posts, but I have to admit, sometimes they gross me out! LOL
True, some of them are a bit raw, but that’s real life. She seems a very caring and diligent vet.
I never thought about a dog have an emergency Caesarean. Love Great Danes . . . we had 3 growing up. Not all at once.
Danes are gorgeous dogs.
I love her posts – definitely worth the reblog. I, of course, am always one to try to promote adoption rather than breeding but I have been through the bottle feeding exercise from a week old – up every 2hrs, day and night, no matter what. Thoroughly love doing it when I have to but would far prefer that it was never necessary.
Rayya shares so much information with her readers which is invaluable to animal lovers. She’s a terrific and very caring vet.
I promote adoption too, but I’ve also been in your shoes – bottle feeding new born pups – it’s exhausting but very rewarding.
Oh wow! So happy for the new mom and puppy! What a save. I love Danes! Thanks for sharing Barbs. ~id
Thanks Idona, glad you found me!
Dr.Rayya has such interesting and informative posts. I hope your reblogging brings lots of readers to her blog. Have a great week sweet Barb. Hugs and nose kisses from us!
She seems to be a wonderful, caring vet. I love her blog too, it’s so interesting and educational for animal lovers.
We always get our dogs/cats sterilized. Sheli will be getting neutered sometime soon.
It’s so much better for pets if they’re spade or neutered. One way we look at it, is that it may give a better chance for survival if a disaster happens or they run away and they are left to fend for themselves.

Sorry about that Eliz. I tried the link and got the same result, but when I copied and pasted it into a new tab, it worked. Please try it again – it’s an awesome blog.
